SYNOPSIS
One afternoon in the fall, Jacob Rosenberg and I were on the phone chatting about how many times we'd both seen One Battle After Another.
That's when he mentioned this Deltron 3030 project he was working on. I told him I was a big fan of the album. In Canada, anything Kid Koala touched was practically gold.
Cut to 3 AM, three weeks later. I'm in my office playing in the sandbox with Jacob and Justin's gorgeous footage—tinkering, searching for the right way into the material. None of it would have been possible if they hadn't given me the freedom to explore.
It sounds trite, but having the trust and support of your collaborators is such a gift. Your intuition becomes unfettered by fear. It's just GO. And as artists, we need to trust those instincts—ours and other people's. This was one of those special projects for me. It was a joy bringing the history of this album to life, one cut at a time.
